Creating a BC Wireless account

You are about to create a B.C. Wireless account.

Before continuing please read over the following information, it will help you understand the structure of our organization and different levels of participation available.

Membership types

We have three primary types of user ship.

General User

Anyone can create an account on our system. General users can take part in discussion groups, setup nodes, use parts of our community wireless networks and generally muck around. Anyone is free to create a general user profile provided they agree to our terms of use.

Volunteer

General users who are willing to volunteer their time can apply to become a volunteer. Volunteers work together on Community Projects under our Volunteer System.

Society Member

Volunteers can apply to the board of directors for membership in the Society. Society members are able to vote on policies, take part in direction of the Society and utilize "member only" resources.

Creating your general user profile

You are about to create a general user profile, this is not the same as volunteer or becoming a member of the society. Applying to become a volunteer is a seperate process.

Once you have created your account you will receive a confirmation Email shortly after creating your account.

Our Defacto Privacy Policy

As a general rule, we consider any personaly identifying information to be strictly confidential. We will not share it, unless we have your approval to do so.

The following bits of information will be publically viewable:

  • Your User/Nick Name
  • Your Neighboorhood
  • Your website
  • Your interests

Experienced and trusted Volunteers will be able to access your personal information. This is necessary to work with you in many cases such as surveying a site for node placement.

Our formal privacy policy is available from /policies/privacy.php.

Accuracy of information

We require that all users of our system provide accurate contact information. Accounts created with invalid information will be subject to removal with or without notice.
