TomFisher dropped off 30 some odd Pentium class (and higher) PC's for us to use. He's asking $10 per box, 8 of them MatthewAsham has already payed for. The PCs still need to be inventoried (ie: checked for workingness and parts). We need a tonne of PCMCIA <> ISA adapters for the 30 some odd 802.11 radios we received a few months ago.
More WaveCaster development. Project manager, message forums, locations and a few other things work but need more work. MatthewAsham is disappearing for a couple of weeks for other project work.

The VictoriaPortAngelesLinkTest happened on the 10th. We're planning some more FieldPlay events to test 25KM+ links with in the Lower Mainland. Stay tuned.
Over the past two months, we've been working on WaveCaster (again). Work progresses on the VolunteerSystem (are you a volunteer yet?) and tools should be up and out of beta come August. Power to the people!

SpringHill node is back up and cranking out Wifi in North Vancouver. Future plans include a link to the up and coming GreyPoint node.

DarrinEden from the Personal Telco project was up over the Christmas Holidays! Whilst sitting over beers, we talked about the Personal Telco Projects' direction, changes in technology and how they will affect people (GnuRadio sure does look nifty), and how we can work with the PTP more effectively. As one of our first joint efforts, the VictoriaPortAngelesParty was plotted.

VoIP is *hot*. We've setup a SIP server, sip.bcwireless.net, account profiles can be created from the "Voice Profile" section of the website. Next on the list to do, setting up an E.164 root and ordering in some more DigiumHardware. One word (okay, three words): PocketPC, X-Lite and Wifi.

ArvoKoppel from PRIS, LonnieNunweiler from Valemount and MatthewAsham from BCWireless went on a travelling road show teaching people throughout the province how to build Wireless Networks in a series of Wireless workshops sponsored by the Government of British Columbia.

TAFL tools are now up and running. Community Networks looking for information on where Telus and Navigata have planted their networks can use this tool to research locations and network capacity. A simple network map of Telus's North West microwave system was plotted using this tool.

11th - Victoria Mountain Visits
Scoped several mountains near Victoria for potential use as long distance relay links for uplinking a future Inner Gulf Island Community Network and the Lower Mainland to Vancouver Island Link.
10th - WARA meeting
Meet up with some WARA folks to talk about Wifi and find out about potentially using their repeater sites.

August 8-9th - Kimberly BC, First Annual Regional Network Conference in Kimberly, BC!
The con was hosted by the Columbia Basin Trust in partnership with the Ministry of Competition, Science and Enterprise and Industry Canada. Lots of talk about Networks both Internet and Community Owned (heh), telecommunication politics and games and good drink :). The BC Wireless presentation is available from here.
