IP Allocations

In an effort to coordinate IP addressing between Wireless Groups we are using 10.100.x.x for node assignments.

A global list of IP Blocks is available from NetworkAddressAllocations. Even if you are not a BC Wireless Network, you should list the IP Space you are using on the FreeNetworks page.

If you are, or you want to setup a BCW Node pick an unused IP allocation and make note if it below. A NetmaskTable is available if you don't remember your bitmasking. :)

Many devices default to these address ranges and should be avoided if possible:

IP Tunnel Allocations

The 10.100.253.1/24 block has been reserved for IP tunneling between open Wireless Networks. The purpose of these tunnels is to connect seperate networks (that do not have Line of Sight or another Wireless path) and establish routing over the point to point IP link, NOT for DHCP assignment or end-user purposes!

If you want to tunnel to another BCW Network, pick a /30 out of the block. This scheme allows for 64 point to point IP tunnels. When we run out, we'll grab another block hopefully .252 and .251 if someone else hasn't already snagged them.
