How to find your latitude and longitude coordinates

Use a GPS

This is really the best way to obtain your coordinates. Our system can use DMS and decimal degrees.

Using our online map

You can use our visual coordinate picker to find latitude and longitude using a street or satellite map.

Using MapBlast

This method should be accurate, but is a bit odd.

Go to http://www.mapblast.com/ and make a map of your location. Look at the URL location of the map page, you should see something like:

http://mapblast.com/(gf3dqwm1nz0ybzmnbs2uphvh)/map.aspx?L=USA&C=49.28438%2c-123.11234&A=7.16667&P=|49.28438%2c-123.11234|1|555+W+Hastings+St%2c+Vancouver+BC|L1|
                                                                ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
                                                                           |
These are your latitude and longitude coordinates ------+

   The %2c thing is really a ":"

or if that makes your eyes bleed, use this tool.

Use a GeoCODE service

TravelGIS.com provides a Free Geocoding Service that will map a latitude longitude pair.

This doesn't always work in many areas, particularly smaller regions and Islands.

Use a general area coordinate based on your postal code

You can use your postal mail's processing area coordinates, however this method is rarely accurate for areas outside of heavily populated urban centers as it is based on the coordinates of the local post office sorting station.

or if that's down..

Using a general area coordinate based on your "municipal" name

or if that's down..
